Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Consultant

The Touchstone Infrastructure as Code Consultant provides architecture and engineering expertise to our clients to plan, analyze, design, test, and deploy cloud infrastructure expressed as code. The IaC Consultant provides advisory and implementation services to client cloud environments including Azure, AWS, Google, Microsoft, and VMWare environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or participate on a team designing, developing, and testing IaC for IaaS and PaaS solutions for on-prem or Cloud platforms
  • Support DevOps operations by integrating developed IaC into CICD pipeline builds
  • Develop documentation utilizing standardized templates including Installation and Configuration Guides, design, and engineering plans
  • Write other non-templated documentation as needed to support tasks like process and procedures for operational support, lessons learned, diagrams, systems administration guidelines, systems set-up documentation, hardware integration test plans and results
  • Provide systems engineering expertise to ensure that technical and operational requirements are achievable and being satisfied with the proposed technologies
  • Provide support in validating and verifying requirements, requirements analysis and decomposition, requirements test/verification/validation, and reporting
  • Manage, maintain, and enhance current and future baselines via hands-on technical engineering efforts to define, develop, test, and implement software baselines

  • Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals, including LAN/WAN design theory including static and dynamic routing protocols, NAT, ACLs, etc.
  • Solid understanding of information security principles and best practices, particularly NIST
  • Hands-on configuration capabilities with Azure, AWS, GCP, HyperV, and VMWare environments
  • Hands-on configuration and knowledge of design and implementation concepts of firewall, VPN, IDS, and other security technologies
  • Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems, Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365
  • Working knowledge of LINUX
  • Ability to work independently as well as interactively with other team members
  • Monitor and advise on information security issues related to IaC and workflow to ensure internal security controls are appropriate and operating as intended
  • Prepare responses, or assist with responses, to client RFPs
  • Assist with vulnerability testing, compliance audits, and security assessments
  • Participate in resolution of security incidents
  • Conduct project management and team leadership, time and budget management
  • Interact directly and effectively with clients
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate command of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent in related field experience
  • 5 years plus hands-on technology experience with focus on Information Security
  • Experience in developing coding/scripting to build required automation and tools using Chef, Ruby, YAML, JSON, Python, Bash, Azure CLI, PowerShell, Java, etc.
  • Azure, AWS, and/or Terraform Certification
